On my flight back home, there were two Olympic athletes on board, one from the Men's Volleyball team, the other from the Men's Basketball team. Both teams won gold medals in China. The guy from the Volleyball team allowed a flight attendant to walk up and down the aisle of the plane with his medal. Everyone got to touch and take pictures. (The hand is the guy sitting next to me, a nice young LDS man traveling with his wife and baby to check out a new home for their job relocation. No missionary ops for me!)
A tidbit I learned--the white part is jade, and each medal (gold, silver, bronze) had a different color of jade on it.
