Big Snow

Snow snow snow. These were taken on 2/1/08, before and after shoveling. It's easy to see how deep it is. It was level with the front porch. Since our sidewalk has dropped there is a pretty good distance from the porch to the first sidewalk slab. And as you can see, even though I cleared off the snow, by the time I finished the driveway, I needed to start all over again!

Sledding fun

On January 26, we finally had a Saturday free to go sledding! We went to a hill not far from our house. It was pretty cold (it's been a really cold winter), but the boys had a lot of fun. Sledding is one of those things we always say we should do and never get around to, so I'm glad we did it.
I caught the boys exercising the other day. They ran up and down the stairs, jumped, etc. I need to talk to Tim about form on crunches... Nate kept asking me, "Does this burn calories?"

Nate reading

Natotato reads all the time now. Here he is reading a DK Reader about Spiderman, I believe. He takes his turn reading the scriptures at night, and although he still stumbles over the tough words, he does pretty darn well!

Music Adventures

If you look carefully you can see Ben right in the middle. (If you click on it you can see him more clearly in the blurry bigger picture.) On January 10, he participated in an hours band comprised of kids from the four middle schools in the school district. A few weeks later, he tried out for the high school bands. As a freshman, he made it into the highest level band at Brooks High School! That puts him in the Raider marching band, rather than the Freshman band (which means more parades, games, practices, etc. doh!)

Both Ben and Jon competed in the Solo and Ensemble contest, and both received gold ratings. Jon got a perfect score. I don't have any pictures from that day, but I was really impressed with both of them. Especially since I accompanied them on the piano and made plenty of errors...
